Minnesota Star Tribune Benefits

You will need to make your benefit selections in the Star Tribune UltiPro system by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18th.

You should review your benefit selections, even if no changes are desired.

To access Open Enrollment, go through UltiPro or go to myinfo.startribune.com to access UltiPro outside Star Tribune.

Once you are logged in to Ultipro click on  Myself > Open Enrollment to enroll.

Important Reminders:

• You must make the desired 2021 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) elections in the Open Enrollment system for 2021. They will not carry over from the prior year.
• You can carry over up to $550  in unused health care FSA funds into the next year.
• You must have completed the 2021 Star Tribune Wellness Program requirements by September 30, 2020, to receive preferred benefits in 2021. If you are covering your spouse in the medical plans, she/he also must have completed the requirements to earn the preferred benefits.  Dependent children do not need to participate.
• Verify your home address is correct in UltiPro. Your medical ID card and other important benefits information will be mailed to your home address on file.

While you are in UltiPro please make sure that we have your most current information. Is your email address uploaded and correct?

NEW Voluntary Benefits in 2021

We are adding two new voluntary benefits for 2021. Voluntary benefits offer you additional choices to round out your benefits package while taking advantage of group rates.

• Vision – We are offering vision coverage for you and your family through EyeMed. EyeMed’s vision care benefits include coverage for eye exams, lenses and frames, and contact lenses. You pay 100% of the cost for vision coverage through pre-tax payroll deductions. Eligibility for vision coverage will be the same as eligibility for dental coverage. Vision Plan Summary.
• Pet Care Insurance – We are partnering with Companion Protect to provide a coverage option for our furry family members. Contact Companion Protect at any time in 2021 to set up coverage for your dog or cat. You will work directly with Companion Protect to enroll and pay for coverage.  Companion Protect

The Star Tribune offers the Open Access Choice Plan and the Empower HSA Plan administered by HealthPartners.  Both plans help to manage health care costs by having an integrated program that includes disease prevention and management programs and online consumer tools.

Since the plans cover the same types of health care services, you’ll want to pay attention to differences in coverage for in network providers and out of network providers, your biweekly rates, and some of the set amounts that you will pay out of your pocket up front such as prescription copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.  You’ll also want to consider the health care needs of you and your eligible dependents.

If you participate in the Star Tribune Wellness program, you can further reduce your out-of-pocket costs!
